Two-time Carrollton City Schools spelling bee champion Kyu Alegre will be heading to Plains, Ga., next Friday to compete in the Georgia Association of Educators State Spelling Bee at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site.
The former president will be a guest speaker. Kyu, a seventh grader at Carrollton Junior High, is the first Carrollton City Schools student to compete in the state bee since three-time state qualifier
Ali Low last competed in 2006. While Kyu shows off just one of the many online resources he uses to study for the bee on a computer in the CJHS media center, an “old-school” resource rests noticeably closed on the desktop beside it.
