A meet and greet was held for the newly appointed district attorney for the Coweta Circuit at Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton on March 8, 2014. Governor Nathan Deal appointed John Herbert Cranford, Jr. to the vacancy created by the resignation of Peter J. Skandalakis on January 24, 2018.

Cranford is the assistant district attorney of the Coweta Circuit.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia and a law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.
Cranford believes in the legal system.

“This is not about putting notches in our belt, but justice,” he stated. “I believe in this work, and I assure you I’m up to the task. I believe in the work law enforcement does, and I believe in everyone having access to due process. It’s about doing the right thing—we will be fair to everyone and respect everyone.”
