CARROLLTON, GA – On April 24, the University of West Georgia’s Richards College of Business will welcome Nancy Richards Farese, is a social entrepreneur, photographer and philanthropist, and Michelle Nunn, CEO of CARE USA, for a very special showcase in the UWG Nursing Building at 5:30 p.m. Richards and Nunn will discuss how they partnered together to use photography to inspire social change.

In 2009, Nancy founded the non-profit PhotoPhilanthrophy to reward and promote advocacy through visual storytelling. She repositioned PhotoPhilanthrophy as CatchLight in 2015, dedicating the organization to visual storytelling and the power of photography to drive social change. Nancy serves as executive director and board chair of CatchLight.

Nancy travels extensively as a social documentary photographer working with organizations including CARE, the United Nations Commission of Refugees, Mercy Corps, and the Carter Center. Her work has been featured in Time, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Financial Times, and more. She lectures and blogs on the use of photography as a social tool to promote awareness of social issues. Nancy serves on the boards of Southwire Company and KQED Public Media in San Francisco.

CARE USA is a leading humanitarian organization that fights global poverty and provides lifesaving assistance in emergencies. CARE places a special focus on working alongside poor girls and women because, equipped with the proper resources, they have the power to lift whole families and entire communities out of poverty. Last year, CARE worked in 95 countries and directly reached 80 million people in FY2016.

Nunn, who took the helm of CARE in July 2015, has devoted her career to civic and public service as a social entrepreneur, a nonprofit CEO and a candidate for U.S. Senate. She co-founded the volunteer-mobilization organization Hands On Atlanta, growing its volunteer engagement model from a single entity to a national network of more than 50 affiliates.

A reception will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the lobby of the UWG Nursing Building. The Showcase will be held immediately afterward in room 106. Free and open to the public.
