Evelyn Tallent Baxter Tamplin, age 98 of Carrollton, passed away May 13, 2018. She was born September 29, 1919 in Centre, Alabama, daughter of the late L.W. Tallent and the late Exie Lee Ashley Tallent. She graduated from Berry College in 1942.
She worked for more than 36 years as an educator for Cherokee County, Polk County, Douglas County, Carrollton City School Systems and in the state of Texas, where she taught English and Home Economics. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 55 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Heyward M. Baxter, SR; her husband, James Arthur Tamplin, SR; and a sister, Barbara Stinson.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn and Larry Wallis of Carrollton; son, Heyward and Kathy Baxter of Knoxville, TN; and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM from Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating.
Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery in Cedartown. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Peter Worthy, Jim Wallis, Kelvin Graham, Eddie Adams, Jimmy Tuggle, Richard Dixon, Jim Collins, and Jack Whitman.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bristol Hospice at www.bristolfoundation.org or to Tabernacle Baptist Church at 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117.
