Imogene McLarty, 88, of Douglasville, GA died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in Wellstar Cobb Hospital, Austell.

She was born in Villa Rica, GA on December 27, 1929. the daughter of the late John Frank Hunter and the late Mina Drucilla Bell Hunter. She lived her entire lifetime in the Carroll and Douglas county area. She worked for Peco Manufacturing Company and for Nibco in Greensboro for a number of years and after her retirement she and her husband operated Eastside Auto until it closed. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her family on their family vacations. She also loved planting flowers and watching them grow and delighted in cooking wonderful meals for her friends and family. Her son said she wasn’t just a good cook – she was a “fantastic cook”. She was devoted to her husband and children and was happiest when she was with them and their families. She will be greatly missed but long remembered. She was a member of Utopia Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William D. McLarty; two sisters, Essie Mae Camp and Betty Lavern Hunter; and four brothers, Edmond Frank Hunter, Lewis Neal Hunter, Marvin Earnest Hunter and infant John Harold Hunter.

Survivors include her children, Ronney McLarty and his wife,  Linda, of Buchanan and Patricia Hansard and her husband, Milton, of Douglasville; a sister, Myrl Hunter Sprayberry of Wedowee, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Mae Harrison of Villa Rica and Sue Hunter of Rockmart; two brothers-in-law, Raymond McLarty and his wife, Margie, of Villa Rica and Paul McLarty of Yatesville, GA; five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 12:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with Dr, John Pennington and Pastor John Lemmings officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Hunter, Rick Hunter, Lee Sanders, Trent Arce, Quentin Reese and James Cook. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica.
