Mobile App Saves Time!

Income tax season brings welcome refunds and a surge of customers visiting the Department of Driver Services (DDS) customer service centers to reinstate their suspended driving privileges. DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore reminds customers of a way to save valuable time – downloading the Agency’s mobile app – DDS 2 GO – available for free from the App Store and Google Play.

“DDS 2 GO enables customers to get back on the road quicker by paying fees and reinstating driving privileges whether our centers are open or not,” added Commissioner Moore.

Customers may check their driving reinstatement eligibility, view a list of their specific reinstatement requirements, pay fees and reinstate driving privileges online – all without a visit or telephone call to DDS.  Eligible customers may request that a free replacement of their original license be mailed directly to them, and they can drive on the receipt until it arrives.  The license will be received within 30 days of the request eliminating the need to visit the DDS in person.

“The license reinstatement process is the most time consuming transaction for our DDS team members,” said Commissioner Moore. “Having customers choose to reinstate and request a free replacement license on DDS 2 GO will directly affect the wait times at DDS customer service centers for those that absolutely must come in.”

Since the launch of DDS 2 GO last Fall, thousands of customers have successfully completed transactions and skipped a trip to a DDS office!
