JCARROLLTON, GA – Charisma Jackson, a frequent substitute teacher for Carrollton City Schools, was surprised to learn Friday she had been named the 2019 Kelly Services Substitute Teacher of the Year for Carroll County.
Stephanie Patrick of Kelly Services showed up at Carrollton Elementary School to present the honor to Patrick, who was substituting at CES that day. After wiping away tears of surprise, she was presented flowers and congratulated by CES Principal Kylie Carroll as well as Carrollton City Schools Supt. Dr. Mark Albertus.
“Ms. Jackson goes beyond the call of duty every time she substitutes for us,” said Carroll. “She is always a top request when we are in need of a substitute teacher.”
The school district contracts with Kelly Services for substitute teacher services. The company provides the training and scheduling to ensure quality substitutes are available when needed. Patrick said each year a substitute teacher is selected for each county the company serves and is chosen based on teacher recommendations. Jackson, she said, was at the top of the list for both Carrollton City and Carroll County school districts.
