GreyStone Power linemen took home the top honor at the 2019 Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo held on May 4 at Camp John Hope in Perry, Ga. The annual competition is a demonstration of apprentice linemen and journeymen linemen competing for recognition and practicing their skills and knowledge on the field.

The team of Tony Brown, Sam Albright, Matt Williams and coach John Atcheson took home the top award for overall winner and 2019 State Champion. The team also placed in two events, coming in first for Jumper Change Out and second for Armor Rod Changeout.

A second GreyStone team comprised of Wesley Agan, Kyle Newberry, Josh Kirby and coach Clyde Hatfield finished 13th out of the 29 teams competing.

Austin Frazier took home fifth place overall for the apprentice linemen out of 76 apprentices competing. Other apprentices representing GreyStone were Matt Braswell, Jacob Brumbelow, Stacy Fuller, Casey Jackson, Dalton Owens, Hunter Patterson, Jay Postell, Cory Scott and Bryce Wrenn.

The Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo Association is a nonprofit organization that supports and conducts an annual Lineman’s Rodeo to maintain a focus on safety, training and safe work practices in the utility industry as well as to promote relationships among the electric utility companies in Georgia and the southeast.
