Seven Project SEARCH students received their Carrollton High School diplomas Wednesday night during a graduation celebration held at the University of West Georgia.
Project SEARCH is a partnership between CHS, UWG, the Georgia Council
on Developmental Disabilities, the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation
Agency, and several local businesses that gave the students
opportunities to develop their workplace skills while continuing their
education. Five of the graduates were officially offered employment, a
highlight of the celebration. Graduates have been offered positions at
Sportsplex, Chick-fil-A, UWG Dine West, and Tanner Health System.
The graduates are Tayvius Brewer, Amirca Dobbs, Bobby Harris, Jermaine
Reid, Nysha Smith, Tydarius Thomas and Tyechia Thomas.
“Project SEARCH is a great program and we’re excited to be a part of
it,” said Dr. Mark Albertus, superintendent of Carrollton City
Schools. “Through our partnership with UWG, these internships help our
students develop the life skills necessary for a successful entry into
the workforce.”
