The Election Summary Report for the Carroll County June 18 Special Election has been released, and all three races will now be decided in runoffs.  

Former commissioners Michelle Morgan and John Wilson will compete in a runoff for the chairman’s position. Morgan received the most votes, with 45.72 percent, or 3,334 votes. Wilson received 29.36 percent of the vote, or 2,141 votes. In third was Vicki Anderson with 12.35 percent, or 901 votes. Former commissioner Lee Powers received 10.60 percent, or 773 votes. In last was Daniel Phagan, who received 1.81 percent of the vote, or 132 votes.  

In the race for the District 4 seat vacated by Morgan, a runoff between Steve Fuller and Mark Sullivan will determine who gets a term in the position. Fuller received the most votes, with 1,024 votes, or 49.81 percent, while Sullivan received 505 votes, or 24.56 percent. John Bryan received 356 votes, or 17.32 percent, while Alan Griffith received 153 votes, or 7.44 of the vote.

In the race for the District 5 seat vacated by Lee Powers, there will also be a runoff between Ernest Reynolds and Jay Williford. Reynolds received 601 votes, or 36.07 percent of the vote, while Williford received 470 votes, or 28.21 percent. Ronnie Pate came in a close third with 418 votes, or 25.09 percent. Carl Lloyd Jr. received 169 votes, or 10.14 percent.  

Early voting saw a modest turnout, with 2,518 total ballots cast. The voting precincts with higher early voter numbers were: UWG with 195; Roopville with 156; Clem with 280; and Bonner with 213. The lower early voting numbers were at: Villa Rica City with 24 and Villa Rica North with 16.

Out of the 77, 271 voters eligible to vote in the race, only 7,311 – or 9.46 percent – cast a ballot.
