E. J. Kilgore, age 67 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on January 16, 2020. He was born May 23, 1952 in Temple, Georgia, the son of the late Sherman Maskel Kilgore and the late Lanie Barkwell Kilgore.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam, and was a member of Holy Ground Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Herman Kilgore and Elvert Kilgore.
Survivors include his daughter, Jena Kilgore of Carrollton, Georgia; sons, Chad Swafford of Carrollton, Georgia and Scott Swafford of Villa Rica, Georgia; sisters: Frances Olsen of Athens, Georgia, Hazel Griffin of Douglasville, Georgia, and Kathy Kilgore of Carrollton, Georgia; and eight grandchildren.
uneral services will be conducted Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 4:00 PM from Holy Ground Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Runels, Rev. Michael White, Rev. Colton Diamond, and Mr. Richard Harrison officiating.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jarod Swafford, Jaden Swafford, Hunter Chapman, Greg Adams, Daniel Mashburn, and Chad Swafford.
Interment will follow Holy Ground Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 3:00 PM until the time of service.
