Douglas County Board of Commission Chair Dr. Romona Jackson Jones announced this morning that she has declared a local state of emergency due to the outbreak of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus in order to lessen the spread of the virus and obtain all available federal and state assistance and resources for Douglas County.
Chairman Jones made the declaration at the Board of Commissioners Work Session meeting Monday morning and signed the order at 10:05 a.m.
Douglas County government has taken several measures to help lessen the spread of the virus and encourage all citizens interested to please monitor the County’s website for the most up-to-date information and follow the guidance of the Cobb and Douglas Public Health agencies and the CDC.
The Board of Commissioners scheduled public meeting on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 has been moved to 10:00 a.m. Social distancing recommended by state and local health officials is encouraged.
