Steve Benton Burns, 85, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on July 27, 2024. He was born on March 3, 1939, the son of the late Robert and Buvena Holder Burns.
Steve was a high school graduate and retired from Temple-Inland Corporation. When he wasn’t spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren he enjoyed raising cattle on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald and Robert (Bob) Burns, his sister Judy Burns Duncan, his daughter-in-law Jerri Hobson Burns, and infant grandsons Keith Benton Burns, Jr. and Kurt Benjamin Burns.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Penelope (Penny) Holder Burns; sons Keith (Michele) Burns, Mitchell (Lee) Burns and Melvin Burns; grandchildren Nicholas Burns, Tyler (Kelli) Burns, Kami Burns (Jordan) Reed, Emily Burns (Seth) Parker, Kyle Burns and Alexandra Burns (Ashton) Wood. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren: brother David (Mary) Burns, sisters Carol Burns, and Sylvia Huckeba, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 2:00PM at Carroll Memory Gardens , visitation for Steve is scheduled on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 11:30AM-1:30PM at Martin and Hightower Funeral Home.
