Gary Herbert Schwarz, 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Ralph Schwarz and Helen Laing Schwarz.

Gary cherished quality time with his family, placing great importance on the moments he spent with his beloved grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to various music genres, but blues was his favorite. He was also passionate about playing the acoustic guitar and writing songs for which he had a beautiful singing voice. 

He was a hard-working man having spent over 30 years as a self-employed carpet installer. His family and friends will cherish all the great memories made with him. 

Gary is survived loving wife Lisa Ann Riley Schwarz; children and their spouses, Kristina Schwarz, Heather & Robert Lick, and Gary & Jennine Schwarz; sisters, Christine Pounds, Kathy Schwarz, Karen Schwarz, Ramona Schwarz and Barbara Borden; brothers, Gene Schwarz and Ralph Schwarz; 5 grand- children and 4 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Puckett officiating. Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park with Gary Schwarz, Michael Lancaster, Gene Schwarz, Russell White, Shawn Riley and Robert Lick serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
