Last week, Sen. Tim Bearden (R–Carrollton) was appointed as an ex-officio member of the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Tourism for the 2024-2025 Biennium. This committee, chaired by Sen. Brandon Beach (R–Alpharetta) has jurisdiction over bills related to economic development, business, trade and any proposed measures that would affect the presence of tourism throughout Georgia.

“I want to thank Lt. Governor Burt Jones and the Senate Committee on Assignments for appointing me to this committee,” said Sen. Bearden. “I am excited to continue the work with our local chambers and economic development teams in District 30 to make sure we have a bright future by attracting investment and fostering economic development. I look forward to using that experience to support policies that drive job creation and keep Georgia a top destination for business and tourism.”

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones expressed his enthusiasm regarding Sen. Bearden’s appointment to the committee. “I think Senator Bearden will be an excellent asset to the committee,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “Senator Bearden’s business background will be instrumental to the committee’s work of vetting policies dealing with job creation and Georgia’s growing economy. I look forward to working with Senator Bearden and the rest of the committee to keep Georgia the number one state in which to do business.”

“I’m pleased to welcome Sen. Bearden to our committee for the remainder of the biennium,” said Sen. Beach. “His experience and perspective will be valuable as we continue our efforts to strengthen Georgia’s economy, attract new businesses, and create opportunities for growth across the state. I look forward to working alongside him to ensure Georgia remains a premier destination for investment and innovation.”

Sen. Bearden also serves as an ex-officio member of the Senate Committee on Public Safety and as a member of the Senate Committees on Banking and Financial Institutions, Education and Youth, Government Oversight and Veterans, Military and Homeland Security.
