Did you know that trees can communicate with one another through underground fungal networks? 🌳

Beneath the forest floor, fungi form vast networks of microscopic threads that connect with tree roots. These networks, known as mycorrhizal networks, allow trees and other plants to exchange nutrients and chemical signals.

Scientists have discovered that carbon, nitrogen, and other nutrients can move between plants through these fungal connections.

🌲 Bonus Fact: Some of these underground fungal networks can connect trees of entirely different species! Scientists are still investigating how much these connections help trees cooperate and survive.
