he American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Georgia Chapter is proud to announce Southwire as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2026 West Georgia Out of the Darkness Walk, taking place Sunday, October 25, at Hobbs Park in Carrollton.
The community is invited to join AFSP, Southwire, local businesses, families, schools, organizations and suicide prevention advocates for an afternoon dedicated to remembering those we have lost, supporting those who have been affected by suicide, and bringing hope to those who are struggling.
Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m., with the Walk beginning at 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the community. Participants are encouraged to register, form teams, fundraise, and invite friends, family members and colleagues to walk alongside them.
The Out of the Darkness Walks provide an opportunity for communities to come together in a supportive environment while raising critical funds for suicide prevention. Funds raised through the West Georgia Walk support AFSP’s work in research, education, advocacy and community programs designed to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
“Having Southwire step forward as our Presenting Sponsor is a powerful reflection of the company’s commitment to the West Georgia community,” said Sarala Waller, Fundraising Manager for the AFSP Georgia Chapter. “This Walk is about so much more than the miles we walk. It is about creating connections, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, remembering those we have lost, and making sure people know they are not alone. We are incredibly grateful to Southwire for helping us bring that message to the community.”
Southwire has a longstanding presence in Carrollton and throughout West Georgia, with multiple facilities in the area. The company has also highlighted its involvement in suicide prevention and mental health initiatives, including participation in an Out of the Darkness Walk supporting mental health and wellness.
The West Georgia Walk will include an opening ceremony, activities centered on hope and healing, resource tables and complimentary honor beads for participants. The non-competitive Walk will cover approximately one mile.
