The Carroll County Cattlemen’s Association will be hosting a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Program at their August 16 monthly meeting. The program will be led by Jason Duggin, UGA Extension Beef Specialist. The program will be held at the Carroll County Ag Center located at 900 Newnan Road in Carrollton and will be from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

This program will be open to cattle farmers who want to earn their BQA certification. Participants of this program will learn what Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) is, BQA guidelines and will have the ability to leave the program BQA certified. The program will teach best management practices, which when implemented can improve a producer’s herd profitability. By becoming BQA certified, producers will be able to capture more value from their cattle and reflect a positive public image that will instill consumer confidence. In addition, anyone that wishes to sell their cattle in the new Georgia Verified Feeder Calf sale will need to be BQA certified.

We hope that you will join us in learning how to produce quality beef. There is a $7 charge for the steak dinner and pre-registration by August 14 is required. To pre-register please call 770-836-8546.
