Carrollton, GA— Tommy Cook, Vice President of Operations for Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative, received recognition as a Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP) from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and the National Utility Training and Safety Education Association.

The CLCP credential is reserved for individuals committed to high safety performance in the electric industry. The extensive certification process, which took Cook more than one year to complete, prepares applicants to effectively handle safety and loss-control issues. After attending a series of four, one-week seminars and completing additional training and testing, Cook developed a comprehensive safety project to share with fellow CLCP recipients. His project “Contractor Orientation” expounds on the cooperative’s responsibility to ensure contractors understand and abide by the set safety protocols and standards. Cook will present his project at the two-day Safety Leadership Summit conference in Orlando, FL, during April.

“Tommy’s safety driven leadership has strengthened the safety culture here at the cooperative,”

said Jerome Johnston, Chief Operations Officer for Carroll EMC. Since 2010, Carroll EMC has accumulated 2.75 million safety hours without a loss-time accident.
