Celebrate National Bike & Roll to School Day, May 6th

Join the Carrollton Bike Bus to celebrate National Bike & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:15 AM at Harmony Oaks Apartments (210 Matthews Ave, Carrollton, GA 30117).

Students from Carrollton Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle, and High Schools are invited to participate in National Bike & Roll to School Day on May 6th by joining the Carrollton Community’s Bike Bus Program, which promotes safe, active commuting to school. To date, there have been six bike bus rides, and the momentum is growing!

The Bike Bus is supported by the Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia Commute Schools, and is a volunteer-led, supervised group bicycle ride along a designated route, aiming to build healthy habits and connection amongst students. Each ride helps to energize students for the school day and takes cars off the road that cause traffic and pollution in and around school communities.

The route starts at Harmony Oaks Apartments at 6:40 a.m., makes a stop to pick up riders at Longview Park at 6:47 a.m., continues to pick up riders at the Amy Lane Greenbelt entrance, before pedaling to the Carrollton City Schools campus by 7:10 a.m.

A local bicycle store, Perpetual Motion Bicycles Inc., helps to ensure students are prepared for their rides, offering in-person sign-up opportunities for the Bike Bus, as well as a free helmet, lights, bell, lock, kids bike check, minor repairs, and helmet fitting assistance to students participating in the bike bus every Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Other day(s) / time(s) by appointment may be scheduled by emailing TheFolks.BikeBus@PerpetualMotionBikes.com or messaging through their Facebook page www.facebook.com/PerpetualMotionBicyclesInc .

“Riding bikes to School is COOL!  We want YOU to ride bikes, too.  I remember participating in the Walk and Roll Wednesdays prior to Covid. It is an honor and a privilege to assist in the return of bicycle riding to school in Carrollton.  Our wonderful Team of Volunteers have amazing energy, and they love riding with the students.  Looking forward to helping the Carrollton Bike Bus program grow.” – Mikki Griffin , Owner of Perpetual Motion Bicycles, Inc.
