Richard Allen McCorsley

Richard Allen McCorsley, lovingly known as “Ricky,” age 73, of Carrollton, and formerly of Bremen and Little River, South Carolina, passed away on April 19, 2026, at Emory Midtown, surrounded by his family, following a sudden illness.

Ricky was born on March 11, 1953, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Eugene Futch McCorsley and Mary Townsend McCorsley. He was a 1971 graduate of Trion High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Ricky built a steady and dependable career, retiring from Berry Plastics in Bremen as a packager.

Throughout his life, Ricky had a deep appreciation for the game of golf. What began as a pastime grew into a true passion, one he pursued even further by earning an associate’s degree in golf course management. Whether on the course or simply enjoying the game, golf remained one of his greatest joys.

Ricky will be remembered as a man who valued the simple things in life: time spent with family, a good day on the golf course, and the quiet routines that brought him comfort. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Sullivan McCorsley.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Vicki McCorsley of Carrollton; his nephews, Jon McCorsley (Amanda) and Josh McCorsley (Savannah McGinnis); and his great-nephews, Dawson and Kipton McCorsley, and great-niece, Sailor McCorsley, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ricky’s life will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Josh McCorsley officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Carroll County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1304, Carrollton, GA 30112 (www.carrollcountyhumane.org), or to THS Emergency Shelter, P.O. Box 1604, Carrollton, GA 30112 (www.thsshelter.com).
