Paul J. Hammonds, age 76 of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away Saturday evening, January 13, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 7, 1941 in Cherokee County, Ga., the son of the late Charleston B. Hammonds and the late Lottie V. Kilgore Hammonds.

Mr. Hammonds retired from Johnson Controls Inc. who manufactured car batteries and prior to his employment there he worked with Seasons 4 Inc. in the refrigeration field.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Hall and Betty Turpin: and by one brother, Charles Hammonds.

Survivors include his wife Brenda Cannon Hammonds; his children, Tony (Darlene) Hammonds of Villa Rica, Timmy Hammonds, and Tanya (Chad Mickle) Hammonds, all of Whitesburg; sister, Gayle (Jimmy) Gates of  Aragon; brothers Glenn (Hady) Hammonds of Mableton, Eddie (Gail) Hammonds of Powder Springs; special nephew, Jimmy (Karen) Hall of Douglasville; granddaughter, Jessi Lynn Hammonds; great grandchildren: Kristie Butterworth of Temple, Corey Brown of Woodstock, Chandler Brown of Villa Rica, and Cason Mickle of Whitesburg; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 1:00PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Anthony Puckett and Mr. David Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Harmony Gardens in Mableton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00PM.
