Judy Holder Word, age 81, of Waco, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 24, 2024. She was born on February 4, 1943, in Roanoke, Alabama, to the late Hugh Dorsey Holder and the late Ruby Rogers Holder.

Judy was a loving mother, an adoring grandmother, and a dedicated homemaker. She also had a green thumb and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. She and Robert enjoyed gardening together, and they also loved collecting antiques and going to estate sales. Taking care of her family was of great importance to her.

Judy was a Deputy Clerk of State Court in Carroll County for more than 20 years. She was dedicated to the citizens of our county. She was a member of Kansas Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Ann Walker, and her brother, Nile Stephen “Steve” Holder.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert O. Word; daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie & Charlie Williams, and Stacey & Wayne Carr; son & daughter-in-law, Ronald & Michelle Word; sister, Sheila Jones; brother, Phillip Michael Holder; grandchildren, Devon Redding & fiancée Jessica Shelton, Collin & Carly Nappi, Aaron Williams, Nathaniel Word, and Jayden Word.

A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Mrs. Judy’s life on Wednesday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home with Bro.  Larry McIntyre officiating, and Bro. Josh Boatright conducting the graveside service. The interment will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Devon Redding, Collin Nappi, Aaron Williams, Nathaniel Word, Jayden Word, Charlie Williams, and Wayne Carr.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Wednesday, March 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.

The family requests that friends pay tribute to Judy’s love of gardening by sending flowers and plants that may be used to create a memory garden in her honor.
