Zulema “Sue” Johnson Norman, 93, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Sue was born on April 23, 1930, in San Diego, Texas, the daughter of the late Matilde Martinez and Juanita Lopez Martinez.

Sue grew up in San Diego, Texas, and relocated to Bremen, Georgia, after meeting George Johnson, Jr. while he was stationed in San Antonio. After moving to Bremen, she enjoyed many years there with family and friends prior to moving to Treasure Lake- which is now known as Fairfield Plantation. While living there, Sue developed many friendships and enjoyed her favorite activities, from supper clubs to Bingo at several local establishments. She was a fierce competitor- especially when money was at stake. In the late 1990s, while visiting Tunica, Mississippi, Sue won a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the slot machines and refused to bring it home, so she took the “cash option.” After George passed away, she later remarried John Norman, and the couple relocated to Oak Mountain Park in Carrollton, where they enjoyed many great neighbors for years.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Johnson Jr.; second husband, John Walter Norman; daughter, Carole Johnson Marlow; grandson, T.J. Marlow; sister & brother-in-law, Benita & Alejandro Cano; sister, Emma M. Sanchez; brother-in-law, Jose Pena; and sisters-in-law, Minerva Martinez & Celina Martinez

Sue is survived by her grandson & granddaughter-in-law, Chris & Beth Marlow; great-grandsons, Cooper Marlow and Patrick Marlow; sister, Evangelina Pena; brothers & sister-in-law, Efrain Martinez, George Martinez, Raul Martinez, and Matilde Jr. & Rosie Martinez; and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins from Texas, Georgia, and California.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers from Heaven Sent Helpers and the hospice care team at Wellstar.
