Alpha Zeta Chapter of Alpha Pi Chi National Sorority, Inc. has been busy during the fourth quarter of 2017 with projects that make a difference in other peoples’ lives. Our first activity was collecting new and nearly new tennis shoes. These shoes were collected to give e to communities that have been affected by a natural disaster. The shoes were collected by sorority members and given to Day Star Ministries to be added to other useful articles to be sent to victims of Hurricane Maria in Houston, Texas.
At Thanksgiving the chapter assembled and donated 33 large paper bags each filled with lotion, aluminum foil, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, soap, hand sanitizer, tooth paste and chap stick. The members delivered the bags to eligible senior citizens in the Hay Mills Community. The recipients were elated and very appreciative to receive the household items.
At Christmas the sorority selected a family that needed help for the holidays. Mrs. Tiffany Rollings were given $225.00 and taken to Walmart accompanied by members Rosalita Troutt & Jeanette Eckles to shop for Christmas. Ms. Rollings and her children were excited to be able to shop and select clothes, toys and some other items that were needed at their new home.
After Christmas, the sorority in partnership with The Maple Street Mansion: Soul of Carrollton hosted a green and white gala. The proceeds will go towards scholarships for two deserving high school seniors from Carroll County and Carrollton City Schools. Albany Berryhill, Villa Rica High School Graduate, was the deserving recipient for 2017. She received a $1000 scholarship. Applications will be available at the end of February 2018 in the high schools’ counselor’s offices.
It is with great enthusiasm that Alpha Zeta Chapter of Alpha Pi Chi Sorority has been able to share with others and to support the Carrollton and Carroll County Community. Visit us at www.alphapichi.org
