Barbara Jean Geter Crowder was born April 10, 1939 in Carroll County Georgia to the late, Cleveland and Annie Mae Geter.
Mrs. Barbara Crowder departed this life at the age of 78 to receive eternal rest on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 after an extended illness at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Cleveland Geter, Sr and Mrs. Annie Mae Reynolds Geter, several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Willie B. Crowder on July 5, 1959; God blessed this union with four children. She joined First Baptist Church at an early age and was a very dedicated active and faithful member.
She attended Carver High School. She was employed as a supervisor in the facilities Department of the University of West Georgia from which she retired.
She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Deacon Willie B. Crowder of 58 years; 3 sons: Mr. Jamie (Sasha) Crowder, Mr. Anthony Smith, Mr. Larry Smith; one daughter, Ms. Vanessa Crowder Avery, all of Carrollton, Georgia; 3 brothers, Mr. Cleveland (Dorothy) Geter, Sr., Mr. Emanuel (Nettie) Geter, Mr. Horace M. (Marjorie) Geter all of Carrollton, Georgia; 7 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Betty M. (Johnny) Hayes; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeanette (Aubrey) Winters; and one special 2nd cousin, Ms. Scarlette O’Hara, all of Carrollton, Georgia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM from First Baptist Church on Old Bremen Road with Rev. Dr. Woodrow Johnson officiating and Pastor Chris Bonner giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in Carrollton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel.
