Shirley Tate Whitmore, age 80 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. She was born September 21, 1937 in Moultrie, Georgia, the daughter of the late Vernon Tate and the late Christine Holder Tate.
She was a retired inspector with Sony Music and a faithful member of Holy Ground Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fonzie Whitmore; sister, Mary Wade; and granddaughter, Carolyn Ann Boswell.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Donna Boswell of Carrollton; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn & Kenneth McCollom of Bowdon, and Debbie & Tim Riggs of Hillsboro, Alabama; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy & Billy Wadsworth of LaGrange; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 3:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Keith Runels officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Tony Boswell, Vernon Boswell, Floyd Boswell, Robert “Red” Smith, Bill Parrish and Basil Synder. Interment will follow in Bethel East Church Cemetery in Graham, Alabama.
