Temple City Council voted unanimously to authorize expenditure up to $118,000 from the 2015 SPLOST funds from the county, which has a balance of $178,615, for an addition to the City Senior Center. The addition will provide more storage space for refrigeration and freezer for the kitchen. Alan Bell Construction and Development, LLC will handle the expansion.
The council discussed transferring $622,550 from the water fund to the city’s Debt Service Account fund. Previously, this money had been transferred to the water fund to make the bond payment. Council Member Richard Bracknell questioned whether those funds would draw interest. After discussion, Council Member Terron Bivins moved to transfer all the funds into the to the Debt Service Account pending research on interest bearing accounts. The motion passed by unanimous vote.
The council rescinded the July 9, 2018 action allowing the purchase of two 2018 Ford Explorers from Allen Vigil Ford for $28,819 each, due to all that model vehicle being sold out. The council then approved the purchase of two 2019 Ford Explorers from Allen Vigil Ford for $28,270 each. The overall cost of the vehicles plus camera system and Upfitter Police Package is not to exceed $85,000.
The date of the September Council meeting was moved to the first Tuesday instead of the first Monday, due to the Labor Day Holiday.
Several issues were tabled before the meeting adjourned to Executive Session.
Temple City Council normally meets the first Monday of every month at Temple City Hall, 240 Carrollton Street at 6:30 p.m.
