Edith Marie Tribble McAnsh, of Carrollton, GA passed away at the age of 86 and went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2018. She was born on November 8, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia, Fulton County to Marie Mabry Tribble and Howell Robert Tribble of Atlanta. Her husband, Ben Wheeler McAnsh, of 67 years preceded her in death this year, and her son, Robert (Bobby) Lee McAnsh also back in March of 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Marie McAnsh McCain and son-in-law, Scott Stephen McCain; and grandson, Sean Stephen McCain; several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Edith graduated from NAPS, now The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA in 1950. She attended the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia. She loved her Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. She was a member of Owl Rock United Methodist Church for a long time and was active at least 30 years or more. She sang in her church choir for about 17 years. She was president of Owl Rock United Methodist Women’s Group for several years, and chaired worship committee for about 13 years and very active.
Edith was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, to all who knew her and loved her. She was a police officer back in the mid to late 60’s for about three years in Fort Walton Beach, Florida before moving. Later she worked in the insurance business for several insurance companies. In 1987 she retired from Insurance House in Marietta, Georgia. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 145 Douglasville, GA for 38 years and held all offices including president 4 times, she was also president of the 5th District American Legion Auxiliary in 1991-1992. She was a member of the WWI Auxiliary and had held president of that as well. She belonged for the last 10 years to the 40 & 8 Les Femmes Cabane, 217 College Park in Fulton County. She was amazing and so patriotic and dedicated to everything she joined and was active and she was beloved by her family and friends. She will be missed greatly and always.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Bert Gary officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. She loved animals; dogs and cats, especially her cat named, Reese.
