Hazel Frankie Cole Turner, age 89, of Carrollton passed away peacefully with her family on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Cottage Landing Retirement Home in Carrollton.
She is survived by her children; Michael Corbett and Anne Turner, Paula Deese and Mike Helton, Randy and Lynde Turner; grandchildren, Marcia and Matty Aho, Ali and Joe Garrett, Rodney and Amanda Deese, Lucie Anne Turner, Lydia and Eric McLendon, Emily and Rico Jiles, Carson and Winnie Turner, Mary and David Stark, and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corbett Turner and great grandson, Will Garrett.
Hazel was born March 28, 1929 in Grantville, Ga, where she attended grammar and high school. After high school she attended and graduated from LaGrange College, where she received a degree in Education and Art in 1951.
She married Corbett Turner in April 1950, and they shared 57 years of marriage. Corbett and Hazel moved to Carrollton in 1951 when Corbett joined Southwire Company and she began teaching at College Street elementary. Her teaching career spanned over thirty years teaching second grade in the Carrollton School System and Oak Mountain Academy. She loved teaching and often spoke fondly of her many students.
Since her retirement from teaching Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She was most proud of her family whom she loved unconditionally and always sacrificed her needs over theirs. She was a caring person who never spoke an unkind word to anyone.
The family would like to thank her many friends for their prayers and kind words over the years. The family extends a special thank you to her friends and the staff at Cottage Landing.
