Mary “Jo” Wallace Duke, age 80 of Whitesburg, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018. She was born November 11, 1937 in Carroll County, Georgia, daughter of the late Charles A. Wallace and Verna Lee Kittle Wallace. She retired from Carroll County School System after having worked for 15 years in the lunchroom at Whitesburg Elementary. She was a member of Rotherwood Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rudolph Duke; sister, Geneva Allen; brother, Edward Wallace; and daughter-in-law, Jean Duke.
She is survived by her children, Rita and Joey Key of Villa Rica, Greg Duke, and Phil and Tammy Duke both of Whitesburg; sister-in-law, Jackie and Dennis McDowell; six grandchildren, Beau Duke, Keri North, Dusti Cook, Salli Braswell, Julia Key, and Levi Duke; and two great grandchildren, Kiley and Griffin North.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Min. Alan Howard officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Dino McDowell, Hunter McDowell, Perry Taylor, Chris North, Mike Wallace, and Trevor Cates. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Duke, and Tony and Scotty Allen.
