For 27 years, Tanner Hospice Care has been bringing together delicious food and the community for one of the most successful and tasty events of the season: the annual Tanner Hospice Holiday Food Sale.
Tanner Hospice Care will hold its 27th annual holiday food sale on Saturday, Nov. 17, at First Baptist Church in Carrollton, located at 102 Dixie Street. The food sale will begin at 9 a.m. and will end when all of the food items have been sold.
All proceeds from the food sale are used to help Tanner Hospice Care provide care and support for terminally ill patients and their families. Last year, the Tanner Hospice Holiday Food Sale sold hundreds of home-baked dishes prepared by the area’s best cooks and raised nearly $15,000 in proceeds to help ensure that local hospice care is available to those who need it.
All are invited to contribute food items to the sale and may drop off their prepared dishes on Friday, Nov. 16, anytime from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Prepared dishes may also be delivered to Fullerville Baptist Church in Villa Rica, First United Methodist Church in Bremen and Bowdon First United Methodist at any time from 10 a.m. to noon.
Volunteers wanting to donate should place their food items in disposable containers or covered plates wrapped twice with clear plastic wrap. All food items should be labeled with the cook’s name, the name of the dish and any special ingredients so shoppers can easily identify food items and avoid food allergies.
Tanner Hospice Care is the region’s only community-based, nonprofit hospice service, providing support for people in the final stages of terminal illness and their families. Contributions from the community and events such as the holiday food sale enable Tanner Hospice Care to provide hospice care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.
