Mildred G. Trevenen, age 84 of Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018. She was born June 16, 1934 in Douglas County, Georgia, daughter of the late Horace Gilley and Irene Bivens Gilley. She was a 1952 Douglas County High School graduate.
She began her working career with Western Electric Company then continued with the Douglas County Tax Office and Douglas County Commission Chairman’s office for more than 17 years service to the county.
Following her career with Douglas County she continued her service with the Department of Human Resources (Douglas County Retardation Association), and then worked for Eagle Optics and ended her working career with Resolutions Counseling before she retired to homemaker status.
She was very active at Lowell United Methodist Church, served her community in various capacities and especially enjoyed her time with the Kitchen Cadets.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, Hoke Gilley, Gene Gilley, and Donny Gilley.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Swan Trevenen of Carrollton; her children, Rick Morris of Douglasville, and Vicki Morris of Hiawassee; sister, Jo Gilley Blackwelder of Douglasville; grandchild, Lillie Joy Morris; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Tim Constien and Vicki Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Matt Gilley, Ronald Bivens, Mark Holt, Robert Willoughby, Mike Astin, and Walt Byrum.
