Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Caroll County decreased the unemployment rate in November.

The county area saw most major indicators remain positive for the year.

“As we move through this holiday season, it’s exciting to see our communities doing so well,” Butler said. “While monthly numbers fluctuate, we continue to see long-term trends going in the right direction.”

The November unemployment rate fell by 0.3 percent to reach 3.3 percent. It was 4.4 percent one year ago.

The labor force decreased in November by 248 to reach 55,640 total members. The number has climbed by 325 over the past 12 months, about 30 per month.  

Carroll County lost 45 employed residents in November, bringing its total to 53,817. That number has grown by 914 over the past year, about 75 per month.  

Initial claims for unemployment were up by about 47 percent for the month. They were also up by about 20 percent when compared to last November. 

Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.comshowed 302 active job postings in Carroll County for November.
