“Danny” Vernon Henry, age 63 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born November 5, 1955 in Anniston, Alabama, the son of the late William Vernon Henry and the late Christine Elizabeth Smith Henry.
Danny was a long-standing, loyal employee of Southwire for more than 35 years. After working in the construction industry, he began his Southwire career in 1983 as a hot metals assistant in the copper refinery. In 1985, he transferred to the company’s Utility Products Plant, where he spent time in roles including rigid stranding, extrusion and quality assurance. From late 2010 until his passing, he served as the plant’s Quality Assurance Manager. Danny was an active member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jowers Henry of Carrollton, Georgia; daughters and son-in-law: Amanda and “Bear” Leonard of Bryant, Alabama and Jessica Thompson of Heflin, Alabama; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sandy & Johnny Bonds of Heflin, Alabama and Deb & Tim Bearden of Saks, Alabama; brother and sister-in-law, Randy & Mary Henry of Muscadine, Alabama; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Bethesda Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Morris officiating, assisted by Chaplain Ralph Cook.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Benjamin Waters, Todd Thompson, Rick Martin, Matthew Bonds, Jeremy Leonard and Johnny Bonds. The Deacons of Bethesda Baptist Church will be seated as honorary pallbearers.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com.
