StarNews was present when Brian P. Kemp was sworn in as the 83rd governor of the Great State of Georgia. The inauguration took place in McCamish Pavilion on the campus of Georgia Tech on January 15, 2019 after Speaker of the House David Ralston called to order a joint session of the General Assembly and Jarrett Kemp did the invocation.
The Honorable T. J. Hudson administered the oath of office to Kemp, who then swore in Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Attorney General Chris Carr, Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Jim C. Beck, State School Superintendent Richard Woods, and Labor Commissioner Mark Butler.
In his inaugural remarks, Kemp pledged to work for ALL the people of Georgia and not just the ones who voted for him. The Governor received two standing ovations during his oration.
