MSgt Norman Eugene “Buddy” Womack, Jr., US Army (Retired), age 70, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019.  He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 19, 1948, the son of the late Norman Eugene Womack, Sr., and the late Lucy Nancy Treathers Womack. 

Buddy was a decorated veteran of United States Army during the Vietnam War.  After serving for nearly 22 years and retiring in 1989, he was called back to active duty for Operation Desert Storm in 1991.  Buddy served for nearly 3 years of Foreign Service and was formerly part of the Special Forces and Meddac. 

He received many honors during his career.  The most notable were his invitations to inaugural balls by two different United States Presidents and his recognition by the Queen of England.  

Following retirement from the United States Army, Buddy worked for American Suzuki for over a decade.  Buddy was a “man’s man”.  You never had to worry about where you stood with him because he would tell you! Buddy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Louise, Darlene, and Gloria.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Bonnie Webb Womack of Douglasville; sons: Christopher Andrew Womack and Michael Womack and his fiancée`, Candy Stamps; sisters: Arlene Floyd, Allene Madox, Norma Sunwoo, and Pat Bebe; grandchildren: Amber Nichole Brown, her husband, Thomas, and Jacob Dylan Womack; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Union Grove Christian Church, 6604 Post Rd, Douglasville, Georgia, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from 12:00-2:00 P.M.

The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. at Union Grove Christian Church with Minister Mike Mallory officiating.  Michael Womack will deliver the Eulogy.

Interment with Full Military Honors provided by the Ft. Benning Honor Guard will follow the service in the church cemetery.
