(ATLANTA) — Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger today called for the resignation of Insurance Commissioner Jim Beck following Beck’s indictment by a federal grand jury on 38 counts. “Accusations of fraud and money laundering are serious in their own right, but funneling those illicit funds into campaign coffers to attempt to influence an election is even more appalling,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “As Georgia’s Chief Elections Officer, and because every Georgia voter has a right to fair elections, I call on Commissioner Beck to resign immediately.” Beck is charged with fraud and money laundering to fund his personal finances and 2018 campaign for Insurance Commissioner. Beck has since surrendered to federal authorities and suspended himself from office. |
