Sometimes life gets hectic and it can be hard to focus on the things that matter.
When it comes to overall wellness, it’s important to be mindful and fully present for ourselves and others. For those in need of a little inner peace, a new program is offering an opportunity to relax, breathe and meditate with Tanner Health System’s Get Healthy, Live Well.
Get Healthy, Live Well’s Mindfulness Meditation classes are an introduction to inner peace and stillness. Yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices will help bring participants bodies, minds and hearts into harmony.
According to an article published in Psychiatry Research, mindfulness meditation has been reported to reduce the symptoms of a number of disorders including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and chronic pain, as well as improving quality of life and wellbeing.
Meditation has also been shown to help control thoughts, help reverse heart disease, increase blood flow, increase energy, provide a sense of peace and balance, reduce feelings of anger, and reduce stress.
During the class, you will learn specific techniques to help you slow down, embrace mindfulness and enter the peace of the present moment. Each class will focus on different techniques to help develop or deepen your meditation practice.
The cost of the six-week class is $35.
Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at Tanner Health Source in Carrollton. Classes will also be held on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at Tanner Health Source in Villa Rica. The next class series will begin June 4 in Villa Rica and June 5 in Carrollton.
