David R. Moore, age 73 of Carrollton, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019. He was born January 06, 1946 in Forsyth, Georgia, son of the late Ralph Nelson Moore and Florence Huggins Moore.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after having served with the company over 25 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, was active in the choir, bus ministry, VBS, and was over the church cemetery.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Delores Todd Moore; and siblings, Willard Moore, Jean Blount, and Wynell Gentry.
He is survived by his children, Susan and Don Wright of Carrollton, Anthony Blount of Carrollton, and Michael and Wanda Blount of Baytown, Texas; seven grandchildren, Colt Thomas, Lori Thomas, Olivia Wright, Rachel Wright, Courtney Blount, Nathaniel Blount, and Zachary Blount; and two great grandchildren, Preston Thomas and Helina Thomas.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Beam and Rev. Tony McManus officiating. He will lie in state at 1:00 PM. Music will be rendered by the church choir, and pianist Terry Lowry. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Blount, Michael Blount, Colt Thomas, Ben Strickland, Mike Lanier, and Dale Walls.
The American Legion Post #143 will perform military honors with Terry Strickland playing TAPS.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
