“Lynda” Elaine Davenport Cole, age 81 of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019.  She was born May 8, 1938 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charlie Davenport and the late Annie Ruth Carter Davenport.  During her high school years at Whitesburg High School, she played basketball, and graduated as the Salutatorian of her class. 

She was a homemaker and spent time in her working career operating an Arts and Craft Business.  She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2016 by her husband, Jimmy Cole; siblings: Dorothy White, Ethel Carnes, Adrian Davenport, Everett Davenport, Delano Davenport, and Harriett McLain. 

Survivors include her son, Blake Davenport of Whitesburg, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law: Joyce Talley of Eatonton, Georgia, and Ione and Clifford Upchurch of Whitesburg, Georgia; three grandchildren:  Brandi Sudduth, Rachel Harper, and Eric Davenport; three great grandchildren:  Cole Sudduth, Lily Sudduth, and Oliver Harper; god daughter, Duana Williford;  and special caregiver, Monica Starnes. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 27, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jerry Cole and Rev. John Powers officiating.  Eric Davenport, John Cole, Timothy Cole, Daniel Cole, Tyler Sudduth, and Nathan Harper will serve as pallbearers. 

Interment will follow in Cross Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
