Thomas “Ray” Smith, age 76 of Carrollton, passed away September 21, 2019. He was born October 03,1942 in Carroll County, Georgia, son of the late Ralph Ray Smith and Allie Maude Buchanan Smith.

He was employed with Carrollton High School for more than 20 years where he served in many areas, such as the maintenance department and performed many jobs during their sports activities. He also worked at Tanner Medical Center for more than 5 years in security.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Kilgore. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lee Downs Smith of Carrollton; his children, Thomas Smith Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rhonda and Jonathon McKee of Bremen, David and Patricia Walker of Sargent, and Scott and Valerie Walker of Carrollton; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie W. and Mary Ann Smith of Bremen; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Mark Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery with Wayne Downs, Gene Smith, Matt Walker, Trent Walker, Dennis Downs and Russell Downs serving as pallbearers.
