Robert Larry Moses, age 73 of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on October 31, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1946 in Cairo, Georgia, the son of the late Robert Louie Moses and the late Gwendolyn Gainey Moses. 

He graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1966 and attended trade school in Clarksville and Carrollton.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was retired from Southwire.  He was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Bowdon and had also attended SonRise Baptist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ira Moses; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Curtis Sanders, a stillborn brother, brothers-in-law: Charles Shoemake and Randy Gallaway, niece, Susan Shoemake, and nephew, Master John Steven Moses.  

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Joan Whitman Moses; children: James and Leah DeVere, Lisa Kelley, and Katie and Marty Gann, all of Bowdon, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Janice Moses of Equality, Alabama; sisters:  Gayle Moses Galloway of Bowdon and Beverly Moses Shoemake of Roopville; grandchildren: Joshua and Kayla DeVere of Loganville, Brayden Gann of Bowdon, Nathan and Jacob Kelley of Roopville, Dylan and Devin Gann of Carrollton, and Kasey McGrath of Columbus; 6 great grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews; 43 great nieces and nephews, and 17 great, great nieces and nephews.  Also surviving, “Because I wanted them and they wanted me”: Kadience, Alaina, Addyson, Ethan, William, Madi, Shelbi, Rebecca, and Molly. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 4:00 PM in the old sanctuary of the Mt. View Baptist Church in Bowdon with Rev. Paul Widner and Rev. Jimmy Holloway officiating. 

The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the hour of service.   The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Brian Shoemake, Marlus Moore, Nathan Kelley, Joey Moses, Ken Moses, and Marty Gann.

The following gentlemen will be seated as honorary pallbearers: Chuck Wilson, Herman Downs, Sherman McAdams, Clay Collins, John Brooks, Willard Loftin, Matthew Bell, and Wayne Downs. 

Interment will follow in the Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Cook presiding.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners, in honor of his son, Ira “Mo-Mo” Moses.
