Gaines “Kirby” Patterson, age 85 of Carrollton, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019 at his residence.  He was born on November 02, 1934 in Haralson County, Georgia to Joseph Emmett Patterson and I. V. Smith Patterson. He was shipping supervisor for Douglas & Lomason for more than 36 years.  He was a member of Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty “Joyce” Norton Patterson.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Robbin and David Smith of Marietta; son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Cindy Patterson of Bremen;  son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kecia Thomas of Carrollton;  daughter and son-in-law, Alania and Jerry Brand of Carrollton;  sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Charles Smith of Tallapoosa and Rebecca and Stan Driver of Waynesboro, GA;  brother and sister-in-law, Karven and Linda Patterson of Fuquay Varina, NC; six grandchildren, Joe, Cory, Jessi, Emily, Charles and Austin; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tommy Patterson and Elder Will Mullins officiating. He will be placed in the church to lie in state at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shiloh Primitive Church Cemetery Fund, at 379 Two Rock Road, Waco, GA 30182, Attn: Tommy Patterson or to Tanner Hospice at www.tanner.org .
