Life gets hectic during the holidays, making it hard to focus on the things that matter.

When it comes to overall wellness, it’s important to be mindful and fully present for ourselves and others. Mindfulness Meditation, a program offered by Tanner Health System’s Get Healthy, Live Well, brings your body, mind and heart into harmony.

According to an article in Psychiatry Research, mindfulness meditation reduces the symptoms of several disorders, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and chronic pain.

Meditation is also shown to help control thoughts, reverse heart disease, improve blood flow, increase energy, provide a sense of peace and balance, reduce feelings of anger and reduce stress.

During the class, you will learn specific techniques to help you slow down, embrace mindfulness and enter the peace of the present moment. Each class will focus on different techniques to help develop or deepen your meditation practice.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tanner Health Source in Carrollton. Classes will also be held on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Tanner Health Source in Villa Rica. The next class series will begin Nov. 26 in Carrollton and Dec. 5 in Villa Rica.
