Connect with your inner child — and your baby — with Baby and Me Yoga.
The class is offered by Tanner Health System’s Get Healthy, Live Well. It will give you the opportunity to work out, bond with your baby and relax at the same time.
Registration is now open for Baby and Me Yoga at Tanner, providing mothers with fun and stress-free yoga time with their newborns.
According to The Practicing Midwife journal, postnatal yoga helps mothers rebuild weakened pelvic floor muscles, strengthen abdominal muscles, and alleviate back and neck pain. For babies, yoga aids digestion, alleviates colic, improves sleep patterns and strengthens tiny limbs.
Get Healthy, Live Well’s Baby and Me Yoga classes meet weekly for six one-hour-long sessions and is suitable for babies ages 6 weeks to 1 year of age. Parents are asked to make sure their infant’s head is supported during the activity.
The cost of the six-week class is $35. Classes will be held on Saturday mornings. Mothers may bring their own yoga mats or borrow one at the gym. Mats are cleaned and sanitized after each class.
