William Lee “Bill” Smith, age 75 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Friday evening, January 17, 2020. He was born July 24, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia, the son of the late Lawrence Clifford Smith and the late Willow Lee Smith.
He was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia, and was an avid bulldog fan; and retired from management with Atlanta Gas Light, following twenty-eight years of service. He was also a retired United States Air Force veteran with twenty-one years of service, and was a member Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Mrs. Linda Griffin Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn & Henry McBrayer of Carrollton, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Rivers Roser of Cartersville, Georgia; granddaughter, Brandi & Ian Lyle of Carrollton, Georgia; two great grandchildren, the “apple of his eye”: Charlie Lyle and Reid Lyle; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, the body will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held, Monday, January 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Dr. Stephen Allen and Rev. Archie Gibelli will officiate. Eulogists will be Thomas Arnold and Shelby Talley. Music will be rendered by Mark Witham.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Members of the Linda Haney Sunday School Class and members of the Hardee’s Breakfast Club will be seated as honorary pallbearers.
Military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, General Fund, 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, Georgia, 30117.
