“Donald” Reese Bonner, age 83 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Friday evening, February 21, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1937 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late George Odes Bonner and the late Lois Aline Venable Stephenson.
He attended Mt. Zion High School. He was retired from Walker Meats, following over twenty-five years of employment. Previously he had worked for Cole Dairies, Carroll Creamery, Du-Gro Frozen Foods, and Atlanta Dairies. He was an ordained deacon and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Bonner, and his step-father, George Stephenson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Jane Reeves Bonner; daughters: Janet (Michael) Smith of Carrollton, and Gayle (Jess) Lane, also of Carrollton; sister, Myrtle Mosley of Lithia Springs, Georgia; grandchildren: Jena (Jon) Eure, Toby Jennings, Jared (Christina) Lane, Jessica (Tony) Carroll, and Jay (Sheletha) Smith; and great grandchildren: Harrison Lane, Abigail Lane, Laina Carroll, McKenzie Jennings, Jaxon Carroll, Cain Jennings, Clayton Jennings, Jacob Smith, Holly Smith, and Haley Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM from Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Damon Smith, and Rev. Tony McManus officiating. Tony Grizzard will deliver the eulogy. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 AM on Monday. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with Rev. Jamie Beam presiding.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedisys Hospice and his caregivers: Ramonda Brownlow, Cindy Lawler, and Tammy Martin.
