Facility is the first investment outside of the company’s Illinois-based headquarters
CARROLLTON, GA | February 19, 2020 – Ed Miniat LLC announced today that it has successfully acquired a meat-production facility in Carrollton, Georgia. The Illinois-based company is in the process of hiring 80 full-time employees and could eventually employ as many as 300-400 to operate the facility.
Ed Miniat LLC is part of the Miniat Family of Companies, with roots that can be traced back to Michael Miniat, a Lithuanian immigrant who sold meat on a horse-drawn wagon on the south side of Chicago. Formally incorporated in 1958, the Ed Miniat business is a 5th-generation family-owned company that specializes in sous-vide (French for under vacuum) cooking techniques. The sous-vide method of cooking seals meat products in a film package and cooks the products in temperature-controlled water bath. Miniat has perfected the sous-vide method thanks to its 30 years of sous-vide cooking experience.
Ed Miniat LLC acquired the facility at 62 Adamson Industrial Blvd, Carrollton, Ga., on February 14, 2020. The acquisition of the new facility represents the company’s first real estate presence outside of Illinois since the company built its current headquarters in South Holland, Illinois in 1995. The Carrollton-based facility will be used to serve its growing customer base in the southeast United States, as well provide the Company with additional cooking methods to offer diversified products to its customers.
“We are delighted to join the Carrollton community and appreciate the extremely warm welcome we have received,” said David Miniat, Chairman and CEO of The Miniat Companies, Inc. “This facility is an important step forward in Miniat’s strategic growth plan.
