(Carrollton, Ga. – March 19, 2020) Carroll County School System is pleased to announce the following new leadership appointments for the 2020-2021 school year.District Leaders Glen Harding will join the district leadership team as Director of School Support. Mr. Harding is a 21-year veteran educator and currently serves as Principal of Villa Rica High School. In his new role, Mr. Harding will work closely with school staff to continue to enhance the premier opportunities available to students in athletics and fine arts. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia, a master’s degree in leadership from Jacksonville State University, and a specialist’s degree in leadership from Lincoln Memorial University Shawn Bissell has been named Coordinator of Transportation for the district. He will work closely with the director of transportation to facilitate the day-to-day operational needs of the transportation staff. Mr. Bissell has served more than 21 years in education, most recently as Assistant Principal and Athletic Administrator at Villa Rica High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University, a master’s in secondary education from Jacksonville State University, and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from the University of West Georgia. Principal Kelly Edwards has been named Principal of Central Middle School, upon the retirement of Jimmy LeBlanc. Mr. Edwards began his career with the Carroll County School System in 2003 and is the Principal of Roopville Elementary School. Along with many years of leadership experience, Mr. Edwards also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia and master’s and specialist’s degrees in educational leadership. David Jaye has been named Principal of Sand Hill Elementary School upon the retirement of Carla Meigs. Mr. Jaye is an accomplished educator and leader who is coming to the Carroll County School System from the Douglas County School System. Currently he is an Assistant Principal at Douglas County High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University, a master’s in education from Georgia State University, and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership. Alison Lyle has been promoted to Principal of Villa Rica Elementary School to take the position previously held by Alton Bias. Mrs. Lyle first joined the Carroll County School System family in 1998 and has served as a teacher, instructional coach and Assistant Principal. She has served as Assistant Principal of Sand Hill Elementary School for the past 10 years. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and certifications, she is currently pursuing a doctorate of education in school improvement. Seth Rogers will assume the role as Principal of Villa Rica High School as Glen Harding moves into his new position. Since 2016, Mr. Rogers has served as an Assistant Principal at Villa Rica High School. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Mr. Rogers has an associate’s degree from Middle Georgia College, a bachelor’s degree from Brewton Parker College, a master’s degree from Walden University, and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from Columbus State University. Marla Turpin has been named Principal of Roopville Elementary School. Mrs. Turpin has worked closely with Mr. Kelly Edwards and the staff at Roopville Elementary School while serving as the Assistant Principal. She began her career with the Carroll County School System as a teacher at Glanton-Hindsman Elementary School in 2004. Mrs. Turpin earned a degree in early childhood education from the University of Georgia and completed the educational leadership program at Jacksonville State University in 2006. Assistant Principal Troyanne Parham will be returning to Carroll County Schools as the Assistant Principal of Sand Hill Elementary School. Mrs. Parham most recently served as a Literacy Instructional Coach for the Heard County School System and has many years of experience in the classroom and in leadership roles. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia College, a master’s degree from Lesley University, and a specialist’s degree from Piedmont College. Zac Cooper will join Central High School as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Cooper has been a coach, teacher, and administrator in the Douglas County School System since 2005. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of West Georgia, a master’s from Troy University, and a specialist’s degree in secondary education from the University of West Georgia.
